Colorful World

I have always loved stained glass. From the time I was a little girl in church I learned to love stained glass art. When I was in my late 20's and nursing my daughter Heather I met a man named Greg who was a stained glass artisan. He was also a musician. I cannot remember now exactly how I met Greg, but it was an interesting chain of events that followed.
Another friend Don Outland was one of a cohort of potters who had a little store in Maybee Michigan. "Three Potters" wanted to have a stained glass window for their store. I wanted to learn to make a window. Gregg needed his guitar repaired, and Larry my hubby is an excellent repair technician.

Gregg got his guitar repaired, three potters provided the materials, and I became the student artist. Gregg had a basement full of glorious large church windows in his shop. I loved the beauty and inspiration of it all. Greg was getting ready to go to seminary. At the time, I remember he told me he had two vices he was ready to leave behind: smoking and ACDC. But not quite yet.

So, I learned this beautiful craft from a smoking seminarian while listening to Highway to Hell.

I have tried many times to find Greg Lockwoood through the Lutheran Church Leadership. I wanted to thank him for teaching me, and to see how he is doing. I found in my search that there are other pastors in his denomination with the same name. I even received a letter back from one of them. A very nice man who explained that I had not found the right Lutheran Pastor.

I hope that Gregg is well. I know he is on the highway to Heaven somewhere today. Where ever you are I thank you.

My lovely daughter Heather and her husband Paul asked me to make a window for her kitchen which I did. (This was the first glass project I have done in about 20 years). It was different from my other work in that it was modern, based around some Frank Lloyed Wright designs. I enjoyed using the primary colors and some interesting antique and textured clear glass.

  1. Your stained glass is beautiful. Heather is a lucky girl! And so is Paul - boy that is - not girl!
